Registered Agents of Oregon
No matter where you are starting your business, if you are planning to conduct business in Oregon, you are required to have a registered agent and a registered office physically located in the state of Oregon. This FAQ is designed to tell you why we are the best people to fill that role for you.
What is a Registered Agent?
A registered agent is a person or entity appointed to accept service of process and official mail on your business’s behalf.
The registered agent requirement came about as an aspect of due process. A lawsuit against your business cannot move forward in court without your business being properly notified first.
The registered agent must have a physical address within Oregon and be available during business hours. The theory behind the requirement of the listed registered agent is to ensure your business maintains a reliable way to be contacted.
Can you give me an example?
Sure. This is a link to our registration with the Oregon Secretary of State. From it, you can see where we can be found and who can speak for us. If anyone needed to serve us with formal documents, they could find us this way.
Why should I choose Registered Agents of Oregon?
We are Experts
We are owned by the business staff of a law firm that deals with the Oregon Secretary of State every day. We work only in Oregon, and we are experts.
More Efficient
We are less expensive than most registered agent services. If you find a less expensive service in Oregon, please let us know.
Inside Track
We have an inside track to a business law attorney down the hall. If you have issues, we can hook you up with him.
Can I do it myself?
You cannot be your own registered agent if you do not have a physical and staffed office in Oregon. If you do have an office in Oregon, you may not want to be your own registered agent. Here are five reasons why:
Extra Paperwork
We have a system in place to track and notify you when your Oregon annual renewal is due to keep your business in compliance with the state, so you do not have to worry about it.
Give Up Privacy
If you do not have an office, you will probably be listing your home address as the business’s point of contact. This puts your home address on public record. For some people, this is a concern; others do not care. In the day and age of “Big Data,” there are many websites out there scraping this data from state databases, putting it on the web, and/or selling it, so your personal information could be all over the place indefinitely. By using our services, you can short-circuit your private data being broadcast over the web..
Receive Extra Junk Mail
Thanks to Big Data harvesting, registered agents are awash in junk mail. We can separate the wheat from the chaff.
Be Pulled in at All Hours
A registered agent needs to be available during regular business hours to accept service of process and official notices from the state. We are here all day, Monday through Friday, so you do not have to be.
Travel Restrictions
If you spend time out of town, you cannot be in your seat when a process server comes by, potentially subjecting you to extra liability. We stay available so you do not have to.
Should I worry that you have a .biz email address?
Worrying can be a productive way to avoid risk. In this case, however, our “.biz” domain name cost us far less than a “.com” domain name–which allows us to charge you less for our services. Try us and experience the value.
